Daddy fun

Sol-B is quite attached to daddy lately. After dinner, he only wants daddy! Awwww



Now he is imitating us all the time! Brushing teeth, putting on lip balm, shaving.

IKEA fun

Sol-B is looked after by Gung Gung and Por Por Tuesday and Thursdays. In the morning, he usually goes to the programs at Early Years Centre or to IKEA. Here are some videos of him playing in IKEA. Looks like he's having a lot of fun.

Born-Free and more playtime

Sol-B loves music. His favourite is "Born Free" by Matt Monro, who is a 1960s singer! He even moves and sometimes claps with the music!

17 months

Since Kelvin got a new cell phone with awesome video capture quality, he began to record LOTS of video of Sol-B that I can't even post them all here. Here are a few from a few weeks ago back when Mah Mah was still in Toronto.

At the zoo looking at african penguins:


On the swing in the park. He WOULD NOT go into the swing if I was carrying him. He prefers to stick to me like a koala bear!


Going down the slide. This was during the warm thanksgiving wkend that we had so we were still wearing short sleeves. Last time at the playground this year! =(

Sol-B now loves tiger soooo much! Besides his stuffed animal tiger, he'll kiss the tiger in the books and some other animals on the animal flash cards too.


But for some reason there are some animals that he dislikes and he makes sure that I know that!

Sol-B walking!

Sol-B can finally walk unassisted! He finally has the courage to walk on his own without holding onto something or someone! So proud of him! We always have to remind him to walk slowly though or he'll forget.

Over the weekend we were at Toysrus and Sol-B was playing with trains. He loves choo choos! He was even making "gung gung gung" sounds!

New words

Sol-B is starting to say some new words! No wonder he's not sleeping well!

He can say:

奶奶 (milk)
Yea Yea (although only for 1 night)
飽飽 (full)

Haha no "Dea Dea" consistently yet. I think I heard him say it a couple of times but it wasn't very accurate so I'm not sure.

He's learning fast!

Halloween

It was Sol-B's first time trick or treating. He was dressed up as...guess what...a tiger! hahaha! I managed to find a tiger costume among the large amount of hand me downs that I have. Fortunately it still fits Sol-B. He really seems like a toddler now, not baby anymore!

We went out perhaps a little too early, not completely dark yet. So we just went to a few houses on our street.






















Sol-B was a bit unsmiling. I figured out later on that he was hungry b/c after dinner, he was full of energy again!

Auntie Man Yue

My cousin Man Yue is visiting Canada for 2 weeks from New Zealand. It's her 3rd time to Canada. It was first time Sol-B and Man Yue auntie met! They hit it off with each other pretty well! He even let her feed him yogurt!




Bedtime playing. Sol-B loves to stand in his crib and walk around now! Of course he has to kiss kiss his tiger every night.



Last weekend was Thanksgiving and we had unseasonably warm temperatures. We went to the zoo for the first time. Of course we have to see the tigers! Sol-B really does like the animals and liked the tiger and the penguins the most!

Mah Mah comes back

Grandma 痲痲 came back from HK and will stay until end of October. She quickly developed a quick bond with Sol-B.

Cell phone and toddling around

Sol-B loves to play with my cell phone, esp the smartphones. He likes to use his little index finger and go up and down the contact list and left and right to access the menus!



Sol-B goes to Por Por and Gung Gung's house 2 days a week. Gung Gung even takes half day off every Tues to spend time with Sol-B. Here he is toddling around Por Por's living room.

Sol-B has a big heart and loves to kiss some his stuffed animal friends. He especially likes the toys with a pointy noise/mouth and will kiss them! So funny! In this video, you'll see that he HAS to give me the Snoopy and I have to kiss it first before he will kiss it!

Laundry Basket Fun

Sol-B loves to watch us do chores, such as folding laundry, wipe table or washing dishes.

Kai Yea Alan

A few weeks ago Daddy's good friend from school Alan came to visit from HK. Sorry, actually, should be Professor Lau came to visit from HK. He is also one of Sol-B's Kai Yea. Maybe it's b/c the first time he met Alan he played with his Ipad, Sol-B really likes Alan. It's extremely rare that Sol-B has such an affinity for a guy that fast!

Kiss kiss my friends

Sol-B would kiss his stuffed animal friends. His favourite was a Charlie Brown one, which I posted in previous videos and lately this really cute tiger stuffed animal from his Great-great uncle 5. However, within 2 days of receiving the tiger, he doesn't like poor ol' Charlie Brown as much anymore! Charlie was his favourite for months! hahaha

Gung gung and Por Por went to Toogood Pond with Sol-B and he LOVES the ducks there. He even kept repeating the words 鴨鴨! So funny!

Outdoor fun

Summer is great in Toronto and Sol-B loves to spend time outdoors: take walks, play water, etc. This summer is a hot one and perfect time to play in the water.

Por Por and Gung Gung's house have a bigger pool and Sol-B loves to play in it.



We don't have a nice pool at home (I'll buy one soon) so for now I just use a plastic container! hahaha





It was so fun that he didn't want to get out of the water!


He also likes to go on the slide. Maybe a bit scared at first, but started to smile after a few times.

Showtime!

Sol-B always had an infinity for the camera. It really shows in this video. He is also showing interest to walk now. Not very steady, still have to support him under the arms, but slowly getting there. He can pull up independently now too!



Yesterday, Daddy had a day off, so we went to Early Years Centre in the morning to play for awhile. He loves going there and seeing other kids too.







He has shown an interest in cars and trains and can imitate their sounds!

Drawer fun and eating toes!

This is one of Sol-B's favourite activities lately: stand by the dress drawer and pull his clothes out! It's so cute!

Superman

Sol-B has a signature "Superman" move. When we sing the Superman theme song and yell "Superman", he'll sometimes raise up his hands and clench his fists so tight! It's soooo cute!



Also, he loves playing with cars lately.

Riverdale Farm and not liking car seat

We went to Riverdale Farm last Saturday. Sol-B saw many farm animals: chicken, ducks, cows, horses, sheeps! We were a bit close to a horse and then the horse sneezed! Scared the heck out of Sol-B cuz he totally jumped and then started wailing! Waaaaaah!

On Sunday, Gung Gung Por Por babysat Sol-B and they went to Toogood Pond Park along with Kau Fu Francis. Sol-B had a very good time! It's good that the weather is warm and sunny so we can all enjoy some time outdoors!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

It was Kelvin's birthday yesterday. We went to The Fish House to celebrate. Sol-B was in a very good mood and ate A LOT! He even left some at the washroom....hehehe

Last night before bed, I think Sol-B said the word "Dea". But so far he hasn't repeated it! Hope it wasn't a fluke!

13-month update

Sol-B is 13 and a half months and he is starting to pull up and wants to stand a lot more. He is also looking more and more big boy and not so "baby" anymore.

We also went to Ontario Place this past weekend with Gung Gung, Por Por, and Yea Yea. We didn't really go on any rides b/c there were too many ppl. But we we still had a good time walking around and also going on the boat ride.

Streetfighter

We bought a PS3 wireless joystick lately. Sol-B loves hitting things with buttons (laptop, keyboard, etc.) Look how happy he is playing with the joystick! Of course, I don't let him watch when Daddy and Dai Baht are playing streetfighter...

Yummy toes

Sol-B likes to suck his toes this past 2 weeks, especially in the car or during diaper changes. It was EXTREMELY hard to capture this on camera, b/c as soon as he sees the camera, he just smiles and doesn't do it anymore!

Lazy Sol-B is finally learning to crawl. At first, he's willing to crawl after a toy. But now, he'll only crawl hard for cheerios!

Sol-B hates having his nose picked and cleaned. Sometimes he doesn't like his teeth brushed and wiped as well. Usually he doesn't like his face wiped too! Aiya!

Sol-B is one year old!!! Congrats!!! We're all so proud of you.

Mah Mah came back from HK just to celebrate with Sol-B on this special occasion. Tonight we invited Gung Gung, Por Por, great uncle and aunt, and also Kau Fu, Auntie Agnes and Uncle Derek for a family celebration.

Drinking water from straw cup. Sol-B hates drinking water. Actually, he doesn't like drinking anything in particular (except mama's breast milk of course). So sometimes we have to distract him, but sometimes if he's in the mood, he'll drink from the cup!

Sol-B is generally a happy boy. He also prefers female presence!

He is also so attracted to Kelly (Ivan's gf) whenever she is over. Look at how adoringly he is looking at her!


But of course now he is older, he voices his opinions a lot stronger. Sol-B is having enough of his exersaucer and wants up!

A few first times

A few of Sol-B's first times lately:

Last Saturday was Sol-B's first time taking swimming lessons. The instructor showed us a few ways to hold baby in water, kick baby's legs in water, jump into the water from sitting at the edge of the pool, and also to chase some balls and toys. It was a lot of fun! Sol-B, as usual, was too busy looking around at the new surroundings. At one point, he even saw daddy WAY up in the second floor pool viewing area and SMILED!

I'll be going back to work tomorrow! Only starting out part time, which is good so that Sol-B and his caregivers (Yea Yea, Por Por) can adjust.

Scratchy boy

Sol-B loves to scratch himself. His scratchy head move is his signature move. Lately he likes to hit his head more.



He was already hitting his head 2 months ago!

10-month update

Sol-B's 10th month passed by really quickly! He'll be 11 months already next week. Also, I'm going back to work part time really soon...

Yea Yea moved Sol-B's playpen to the kitchen eating area so Sol-B can play there while we eat or doing things in the kitchen. He really knows how to relax and chill out. Once in a while, he'll lie back in his sitting cushion and take a rest. Yea Yea says he plays like a panda!



His favourite toys are: blocks, ball, choo choo train, and these 2 other toys where you press a button and there are animal sounds. Sol-B loves animals and his fav books are animal books as well. He is also quite stubborn where he ALWAYS have to hold something in one hand. Usually it's a block, or if a block is not there, he has to hold this small green ball. If you take it away from him, he'll protest. If he has two things in his two hands, then he'll only give you one of them! I guess he really needs security! Also, he finally learned to "give" this month!



Sol-B is still quite lazy physically. He's great at rolling over now, but still does not like to stand and cannot crawl yet. I try to encourage him every day though!



Sol-B sometimes doesn't want to sleep at night yet, so we let him roll around for 10 min or so on the bed so that he gets tired. Usually after rolling around he falls asleep very quickly. He also talks (babbles) a lot more now.



Today is Baht Baht's birthday! Happy birthday Ivan!

Exersaucer play

Sol-B's relationship is quite a funny one. He was afraid of it when he was little, but was so curious about it. Then was a bit apprehensive when put in it when around 6 months or so. Now he enjoys it quite a lot and plays with every toy. Here are some videos of the progression.

4 months - first few times in the exersaucer. He's too short for it!


5 months - still a little too small for it; his feet was barely touching the ground and he needed towels to prop him up.



6 months - afraid to sit in it all of a sudden, so just studying every toy from the side


8 months - starting to enjoy it, but still not too too active


8 months - starting to jump in it


8 months - sometimes he's very lazy and just doesn't move!


8.5 months - slowly playing in exersaucer


Now at 10 months - he's on the 2nd height level and he's jumping up and down!

Playtime

Sol-B LOVES to play now. But he needs to have people beside him and he especially likes us to play with him.

Charlie Brown

Sol-B really loves this Charlie Brown stuffed cushion of mine. He has this big smile whenever he sees it, it's so funny! In a way, Sol-B kinda looks like Charlie Brown too! We've given him other Charlie Brown toys and he isn't as fond of them.

Vegas trip and other updates

It's been a couple of weeks since we came back from our Vegas trip.Sol-B was VERY well behaved on the plane. It was a bit tough the first couple of days since we weren't used to bee on the go so much with Sol-B. He'd only nap 30 mins at a time and was generally overtired and got cranky easily. But it was much better on the 3rd day as Sol-B could nap for 1.5 hours in the Ergo baby carrier carried by Yea Yea. So all of our spirits lifted!

On a sad note, grandma Mah Mah went back to HK this past Tuesday. She will return in September. She has developed quite a bond with Sol-B in this past 1.5 months and we all miss her! Most of all, she taught Sol-B hoe to pick up cheerios with his thumb and index finger! Here are some of the videos of their interaction.

Sol-B's first trip

I'm at the airport right now. Sol-B is going on his first trip to Las Vegas! Unfortunately, the plane is delayed for an hour so that's why I'm still online right now.

Sol-B is too curious at the airport so he is too impatient to nurse or sleep for long. Too distracted! Too many things to see! Hopefully Sol-B will be well behaved and stay safe throughout the trip.

9-month update

Sol-B just passed his 9-month bday last week. Some updates about him:

He's MUCH better at rolling now. He took forever to learn how to roll in all directions cuz he's so lazy. He's definitely more active now.

Last week one night during bath time he was fussing about something and daddy scolded him. Sol-B then was mad and wouldn't look at me or daddy during the entire bath time. He wouldn't ever look at yea yea when we said good night to him. Sol-B was sulking and mad at the whole world! It was quite funny how a little person have such emotions and behaviours!

Sol-B has "done his business" in his new froggy potty for the whole week! We're so proud of him!




















Sol-B quickly got used to having yea yea and mah mah in the house since they came back from HK at the beginning of the month. Look how cuddly he is! Mah Mah will leave on March 15 and will come back in Sept. Yea Yea will stay in Canada for a while.




















Sol-B is enjoying solid foods more and more! He'll kick his feet (almost like clapping with his feet) together if he eats yummy yummy food. His favourite his cantaloupe mixed with cereal. This is his reaction.















Also this is a very naughty picture of Sol. He sure knows how to strike a pose and make himself comfortable!

Usually Sol-B is quite sweet and well behaved. He's usually a happy boy. But of course every baby has his fussy moments. Here are some captured on video.

Also we've recently added reading books as part of our bedtime routine. Sol-
b loves the animal books. He also loves books with the flaps. In these videos from a couple of weeks ago he hasn't learned to close the flaps yet. Now he insists on closing the flaps!





Sol-B really loves to eat solid food now. Look how excited he is waiting for his mum mum!


Sol-B also loves to play with his feet whenever he has his diaper changed. He hasn't discovered that he can eat his toes yet!

constipated

Poor Sol-B was constipated last week. He struggled with bowel movements the whole week and his appetite for solids dropped dramatically. So last Sunday Sol-B had to use suppositories with Por Por's help, and then voila! I couldn't believe that his little tummy could hold so much stuff! No wonder he was upset the whole week!

After that incident, we made sure that Sol-B drinks enough water, even if we have to force him to drink water. Much better this week la! He is eating solids like a champ again!

7-months!

Sol-B is in his 7th month already! Happy new year everyone! Time really flies and Sol-B will be 8 months old already next Friday.

We've been teaching Sol-B how to use a cup with a straw. At first he kept pushing it away or bite on the straw. After a couple of weeks, he finally got the hang of sucking from the straw. Yea! Here's a video of him just biting the straw.



Sol-B is also teething. He is ALWAYS putting his hands in his mouth! It's so annoying when he does that when his mouth is full of food! Here he is with a teether.



Sol-B is fairly lazy when it comes to physical activity. He just doesn't like to move around too much. Tummy time is still not the most enjoyable thing for him.



Sol-B is very playful and is SOOOOO ticklish!
